Studio Culture Policy

KU Draft Studio Culture Policy
Beginning in 2002, the American Institute of Architectural Students (AIAS) began an initiative to promote the development of studio culture policies in accredited architecture programs. In 2004, this was adopted as a criterion for accreditation. In 2005-6, the AIAS KU chapter along with faculty representatives began drafting a studio culture policy. This draft has now passed through numerous committees and been revised numerous times. The current Studio Culture Task Force is now ready to receive comments on this draft in the hopes of receiving approval on this policy by the end of this academic year. This policy will be a living document and will incorporate a policy for how it will be maintained, improved and enforced on a regular basis. Thus, this document should not be seen as an end, but rather as a beginning; a point of departure for a larger conversation about what we value, our expected norms and our future ambitions.
The draft of the studio culture policy may be found here. Please send comments to Professor Shannon Criss scriss@ku.edu, Chair, Studio Culture Task Force by March 27, 2009.
