Current Activities

Downtown housing, both new construction and rehab;
Revitalization of the east side of downtown to promote a mixed use, urban village neighborhood;
7 blocks of streetscape improvements to create a gracious approach to the Iowa State Capitol building;
Western Gateway project which focuses on 5 blocks of City-owned property for major civic improvements to be surrounded by approximately 15 blocks of private-sector economic development;
the new Central Library to be located in Western Gateway;
Downtown Plan assessment to determine the need and appropriateness of the comprehensive Downtown Master Plan
