
Lisa Collins Reed (B.S., Arce, 1993) is a senior designer at Lighting Design Alliance, a lighting consulting firm based in Long Beach, California. She has worked there for three years and is also a licensed electrical engineer. Lisa and her husband, Todd, a graduate of KU’s School of Business, had their first child, Aaron Davis Reed, on May 1, 2001.
Steve Hardy (B.Arch., 1995) and Jonas Lundberg (B.Arch., 1995) returned to Marvin Hall in April, 2000, to present work that they have completed in Europe. Both are members of the Urban Future Organization (or UFO for short), a firm that operates as a network in association with several small design offices in London, Athens Messina and Utrecht. They were touring the USA with colleagues and students from England.
Dan Hightower (M.S., Arce, 1974) returned to Kansas in 1999 after a career in the US Public Health Service. He is currently employed as Director of Facilities Management at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he has been involved in the design and development of the Hoglund Brain Imaging Facility and KU’s new Biomedical Research Center. He continues his work with the US Public Health Service as a member of the Committee on Building Design and Construction.
Kirsten Malcolm Gatewood (B.Arch., 1989) is President of Gatewood Design Works, a firm in North Royalton, Ohio, that provides architectural drafting services. Her business was the subject of an article featured in the April, 2001 edition of COSE Update, the magazine of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association. Kirsten and her husband, Claude, became parents in July, 2001, with the birth of their son Cooper William.
Brent Schulz (M.Arch. Management, 1997) is currently employed with Bohler Engineering in New Jersey as Director of Construction Management. His responsibilities include developing a department that will provide architectural services for the company’s other offices in six Northeastern states.
Charles Spitz (B.Arch., 1972) has been elected to a three-year term on the Consultative Council of the National Institute of Building Sciences. The Council includes national representatives from architecture, engineering, construction and other sectors of the economy. Spitz was elected to represent the architectural community.
Christopher M. Teeter (B.Arch 2002, M.Arch 2007) Completed his Masters of Architecture at University of Pennsylvania and has located the office of Metamechanics LLC to midtown New York, NY. Chris founded Metamechanics with business partners Matthew McGuire (KU B.Arch 2003) and James Pereira (NYIT B.Arch 2005). Matthew McGuire is currently a real estate agent at LaFlorida Coastal Properties in Santa Rosa Beach, Fl while maintaining an active part in the design practice of Metamechanics in the Gulf Coast area of Florida. Chris has submitted theoretical work and is working on more theoretical essays for the new inter-collegiate journal “Manifold Magazine” featuring Michael Hays and Sanford Kwinter in its first issue. Metamechanics is currently completing a high-end men’s retail store in downtown Philadelphia and has begun work on a restaurant in Florida.
